A childless woman once happened upon a giant peach floating downstream. Upon bringing the peach home to her husband they discovered a baby boy inside. The boy claimed he was sent from heaven to be their son. They named him Momotarō.
When Momotarō grew older he befriended a talking dog, pheasant, and monkey and together defeated a band of Oni who terrorized nearby villages.
